I'm not sure why people are all out of sorts with this increase. Basically it seems people are mad that it will cost them more to end a contract early? Is upgrading before the end of two years really that important?

Maybe I'm just odd, but two years with a product really isn't all that long.

I mean like, I have the new brit Femme Fatale album, ripped it to FLAC.

I used MAX to convert it to ALAC and everything is fine, but when I checked the bit rates of each individual songs in iTunes they were different, is it supposed to be like this or is it some problem with MAX and how it encodes them?

Like one song would have 900 something and another song would have 1100 something, it's weird.

I wonder if the Shuffle will ever have more than 2 gigabytes. It's form factor seems to limit it, not because there'll never 2 gigabyte storage that small (there will), but because you can't select songs. I wonder how useful a 10 gig Shuffle would be. (Maybe it would be useful... since I don't listen to music on "shuffle" very often, it doesn't appeal to me, so maybe I'm missing something.)

But on the other hand, what can Apple do? They won't be able to make it much smaller (still needs controls and headphone jack).

That leaves them with the only option being to make it cheaper.

Feature-wise, I guess wireless syncing, as it gets smaller the dock is going to be smaller and smaller (the current version looks flimsy, like it wouldn't stand up or something.) But there's not much you can do with something with no screen.

They have to do one (or more) of the following:

WRONG! FCP is definitely not the industry standard. It gained a lot of traction in market share from Avid but has since regressed its gains over the last several years.

Yeah, I was gonna say. When it comes to professionals Avid still reigns supreme (unfortunately, in my opinion).

This is my first time witnessing a live Macworld. I made the switch early last year and have become more addicted since. I was hoping for an update to the Mac Pro. A price drop, Cores maybe. Some More Juiciness about Leopard. I think the iPhone is really cool! I'm not that interested tho. I'm happy for everyone that has been dreaming of one.

I found the announcement of the name change to be scary. Obviously this keynote is a good example of how they are dropping the "computer" focus on the company. Which is kinda cool in a way but scary too. Just when I start getting into this whole thing they switch focus? I hope this isn't as bad as I think it could be.

I'm voted on disappointed but I am not totally bummed. I still think it was a great keynote. And I still think Steve and Apple are "Wicked cool". I can't wait to see the video.:cool:

Appleinsider called this correctly then, I wonder if this will be the top selling iPod model this Christmas.


I wondered the same thing. They will need to sell quite a few more to make up for the numbers on the other models.

The iPhone can run iPad apps as a universal app contains a single application binary with appropriate resolution and UI information dependent on the device. Therefore the iPad and iPhone can run the EXACT same application binaries, so that argument is out the window.

So buy a capacitive stylus already and quit whining about "finger painting".

Stylus-focused tablets failed in no small part because of the easily-lost one-more-thing-to-fiddle-with can't-function-without-it stylus requirement. So, Apple built a tablet that didn't need it. Insofar as a few people do need a stylus for limited applications, third parties make them. Buy one if you need it; nobody is stopping you but you.

No. If you take a life, you get to sit in a small dark room for 23,5 out of 24 hours of each day for the rest of your life. You will not be able to kill yourself, you will have to endure the absolute solitude. (EDIT: This is pretty much only for premeditated stuff, if you ask me)


Killing people is morally wrong (according to my beliefs), therefore I cannot support the killing of a criminal either, no matter how bad the crime is. If we take a stand and say that ending a human life is wrong, we can't kill anyone at all. Even Josef Fritzl is a human being, albeit he does give Hitler good run for his money on being an ass.
