Now I need one help. I have moved to Chicago area freom Michigan. We had filed from Michigan. So to change address to get FP notice in Chicago area what all I need to do? I had no Alien number on my I140. Please advice. I am looking at LIN number on the back of the checks. But for my wife she has different LIN number on three checks for I-765, I-485 & FP. Which one will be valid. Can I get any handle from these numbers to make a call to USCIS and request them to change my address online? What is the number for USCIS to call?

I called Sen. Cornyn's office but got a recording, with no possibility to leave a message. Then I called Sen. Kennedy's office and the immigration counsel was on the floor but they had a person in charge taking messages for him and she took at and said she would deliver it to him. Let's keep at it!

wandmaker, I understand that the 485 as it is filed now stands to be denied. But if I can get back on h4 and withdraw current 485 and refile new 485, then why would there be a issue? As I understand, 485 is to be filed while in valid status. It is not 'until' but 'while'.
Also, do you think Consular processing might be a better option instead of 485?
Your understanding is correct, you can refile 485 after you make a lawful entry using H4 and you will have check YES to the question "Have you ever before applied for permanent resident status in the US?" and need to write details..... Get opinions from more than one attorney - thats my 2 cents.

If she is qualified enough ask her to find a new employer who is willing to sponsor her a H1B.
She can transfer her status from H-4 to H1B and it will not be counted against the annual H1B quota.
Ppl please at least give a disclaimer. This sentence, said with such authority is completely false! The ONLY way you are not counted against the annual H1B quota is if you are RENEWING your existing H1B (and you have years left on it of course).
Think before you write..

There should be a good faith job offer from your GC employer as of today. You can decide not to join the job after your I-485 filing and 180 days there after.

If I am working with X company & Y company is ready to file GC.
(Assuming Y has no objections even if I do not join the company at all)
Is it mandatory for the candidate to join company Y at certain stage which has file GC?

While the thread was started on a light note, I think this is a serious topic.
Most of the people in the developed (and increasingly in the developing) countries are over-weight. I believe people are over weight, because they are not eating good food. People just follow the latest fad (in India this is oatmeal, soybeans etc. for now).
I have successfully managed my weight below 24 BMI for almost a decade now by eating good food. The key is "moderation" and eat unprocessed food as much as possible.
If you have to choose between whole milk and fat free milk, choose whole milk. If you have to choose between red rice and white rice, choose red rice. If you drink, do not drink the cheapest variety. Go for Blue label or Hennessey and drink just a peg a week. Go and eat the most expensive cut of beef and eat just an ounce of it. And for the record, I haven't found anything wrong with traditional breakfast (uppuma, puttu, dosa and what not). If you like the taste of oatmeal go for it, but once in a while.
And do not forget to do some exercise everyday. 30-40 minutes of walk, bicycling, swimming, playing some games; any thing will do.

Well you can always get the Equivalence Certificate from know Evaluator. USCIS also uses few Evaluators’ for various purposes. You should find one of those and get the Evaluation done by them. 3 year Indian degree is VERY MUCH equal to a 4 years BS degree in the US. It's very interesting they way these evaluators do it.

I am a July 2nd filer, sent my app to NSC and got transferred to TSC , received the receipts on Sept 6th and the notice date is Sept 4th.
I was on phone with NSC customer support and was asking about AP status and the rep was saying that they are currently processing June 17th 07 AP documents and they process by the date the app's get entered into their system.
Rep asked me to wait for 90 days from the notice date for AP status.
I am not sure if this is correct and wanted to see if any one is in the same situation.

I think, if you are US Masters/above plus if you are a member of profession, then you are the luckiest person on earth...
1) Need not File LC

But if your are a US-MS Electrical Eng and working as Tech Lead in IT, you do not qualify for this, as Tech Lead for IT may require US MS Comp Science not US-MS Elect Eng....since you do not qualify as memeber of profession.
In which case you need to file LC, which anyway will be a problem becasue of the misamatch of the profession and your qualification.
So for those kind of mismatches it will be really difficult to justify releif under this clause.
