Checked DOL website yesterday (4/30) and today (5/01) to see what the front page would say. Sure enough - the image changed from "18 Months Remaining" yesterday to "17 Months Remaining" today!
Web gurus, can you guys make sense of the following lines? I grabbed them from the DOL's website source. Can you tell if this being manually changed or some script is doing it automatically:

First, as a fellow engineer, I'll say that is no handicap to photography.
At the moment I took the shot, I was searching out textured and detailed objects to show me what the 100 Macro lens would be capable of resolving.
So, the left brain was hard at work being analytical and logical.
On another level, the structure brought back childhood memories of my grandparents' farmhouse.
On yet another level, I was facinated by all the small details - mortar, wrought iron fence, and the leaves turning colors.
Generally, these sorts of images are what I connect with, the ones that I can't quite (or at least instantly) figure out what I'm looking at. Is this a wall, a sculpture, are those windows or doorways am I inside looking out or outside looking in.
It's also worth noting that there is no trace of the "rule of thirds" in that image.

Hi all,
I got my H1-B approved last year (through the lottery) and my start date was 10/01/07. My company was not doing well and so did not hire me until end of Nov. I have been continuously working since then. I did not receive any pay in 2007 and my company has been lagging behind on pay checks.
Problem: I have received pay checks only till Dec 15th, 2007. Till date, I have not received my W2 for 2007. My husband has filed a tax extension and we have time until 10/15 to file our tax now.
Questions:
1: Can my company issue a W2 for 2007 now ?
2: What are the impacts of not getting a W2 in a year, even though you have legally worked for a company ?
3: My husband has filed for his GC and is currently waiting for his I-140 and I-485 (both filed concurrently last summer). Will there be any problems in my I-485 because of my W2 issue ?
4: Is there a problem if my husband files a joint return without my W2 ? Is it even possible ? I do have my SSN and that is the only info that is being asked about me while filing the tax.

You company must provide you the W2. Otherwise its illegal. Ask them to give you the W2 or contact IRS/DOL

This is a perfect example of creating more problems for everyone including yourself. IF everyone applies 2 H1 just to make sure there probability increases the overall probability of one getting H1 stays the same. The problem comes when someone plays by book and applies only one H1. By your action his probability is decreased. This is something my conscious won’t allow. When i was applying a H1 i had option to go for a regular H1 or last years left over masters Quota (The first year masters Quota opened, USCIS started accepting applications in Jan for that already started fiscal year). I decided to go for the Masters one so that i don’t use up a number from the coming year's regular or masters quota .. i could have saved money staying on OPT but i did not

finally status for EAD and AP changed to " documents mailed".
But yesterday i received a letter from USCIS related to the fax I did before.
and as per that letter, my request to expedite my EAD and AP is not valid(?????????????) so they sent my fax back (print out). I really dont understand this!!!!!!!!!!
waiting for EAD & AP hopefully I will get it tomorrow.

Is it advisable to put in a big % of your income into the retirement account. There seems to be a nearly 30% early withdrawal loss if you ever were to pull money early out of that prior to 60 years of age. So basically your own money will be lost.
Any ideas on this issue? It is not that I am planning to withdraw early but just for information purpose.
1)If you have a company match(if you contribute certain percentage company also contributes certain percentage towards the account) then it is wise to put money in 401K.
If not given the crappy funds offered by the 401K plan provider it is not a good idea.
2)Also don't go overboard with this 401K , don't put too much money , if you still want to invest there are other vehicles like Roth IRA.
3)Talk to qualified financial adviser instead of seeking advice from annonymous folks, especially when it comes to your money.

Sorry to add to the confusion and I had replied to the same question in another thread, but my lawyer told me I can be on H1 and do additional work on EAD since H1 is a dual intent visa. He also told me that nothing needs to be informed to the immigration authorities once I start using my EAD. I know this is contrary to what everyone said in the comments above, but this is the reply I got talking personally to my lawyer.
Even my lawyer told me that I can be on Both H1-B and EAD
But It is not true for H4 , You can not be on Both H4 and EAD

At one point in time, i was the First to propose a meeting with NumbersUSA, but now i have to agree with Logicliffe. They have a specific agenda and want to reduce ALL forms of immigration.
Fighting them is like banging ur head against the wall. You can argue with someone who is fair and not totally biased against immigration. Even their message on the website is misleading. How it can be "pro-immigrant" and yet be an "immigration-reduction organization", i have no clue.

Lots of people have done H1-F1-H1 in the past and they are not counted against the quota. You can search for various attorney's (including Rajiv of immigration.com and Murthy of murthy.com) answers for ur specific question either in their websites or thru google. I did some research on this specific thing in the past and also had confirmed with immigraion HR in my company. So I am pretty much sure that you are not counted against the cap. You would need to apply before the visa (F1/opt period) expires so that you dont get to stay in US without any valid visa. so no hurry and dont worry about adv degree cap.

USCIS receives around 7.5 million applications a year and mistakes happen. Cut them some slack here. Bad luck to OP. Contact USCIS and see what happens and please post here after your issue is resolved. Others will benefit from your experience.
USCIS has deliberately created circumstances for 7.5 million applications. For eg. why can 485 receipt not act as an Advance Parole and EAD ? It looks like they want more applications and then claim that they are very busy.

It worked well in my case.
The HR Head of InComm wrote to me asking me to reimburse the money. They sent a Fedex to my home asking me to reimburse including the cost of the Fedex.
I talked to the DOL and they said, i can reply to the email informing about my conversation with DOL.
I did that and I never heard back from the HR VP. Probably no one ever challenged these guys and they were exploiting people. In fact a guy paid $15K for the green card processing to this company.
