Respectfully, I think you're missing the point. In its totality, installing an app is more like:
1) Google or otherwise search for an app. Make sure its the Mac version, compatible with your OS version, processor, etc. There probably won't be any reviews, more like select quotes from people who liked it.
2) IF you trust that website, fill out your credit card information, PayPal account, etc.
3) Download it and do the process you described for installing.
4) If you need to re-install the app, buy a new computer, etc. hope that the company allows you to re-download it.
5) If you have a good/bad experience, good luck reviewing it or rating it.
I'm a pretty tech-savvy guy and I still appreciate the ease of the Mac App Store.

He'll proceed to talk about iTunes, the iPod, the iTS, so on and so forth, talk about OS X's user base, maybe touch on Leopard. He'll release TelePort (iTV), iWork & iLife as is expected, and finally, after he's done with the usual rambling about how great Apple is, he'll say "We've talked about some great products. We've talked about Mac OS X, we've talked about how to bring iTunes content into your living room... but I wanna talk about one more thing..." and dazzle us with an update to .Mac .
We'll all proceed to connect to MacRumors and complain about how ****** stupid Apple is, yet continue buy every new release of anything they've ever produced.

For that kinda money I would much rather invest in a macbook!!!
With student discount Macbook is only about 500 more...
Yea they are apples and oranges... but a liitle macbook would make a nice portable video device.

Apple's success is in large part driven by the ecosystem that they have built around iPod/iTunes/iPhone/iPad. Good luck to anyone breaking into that anytime soon. The day I can buy a song on Mac/PC, synch it to my Android phone, then stream it around my home to HiFi or TV then we will have a competitor. Apple knows it, the record companies and studios know it, someone needs to tell Google.
What a shame. I really like Android OS but one of my biggest complaints by far is the lack of a solid service to sync and play music with my phone/tablet.

There are two powerful reasons for Verizon to push for an LTE/CDMA iPhone at this time:
1) Fear of the iPhone data hogs. What better way to avoid saturation in large cities than to channel iPhone users to their highest-BW unused spectrum.
2) Voice + Data. After so much pressure from AT&T and Apple's marketing in this regard, there is no way the new Verizon's iPhone could be introduced successfully without top notch V+D functionality. CDMA is a no go, even with the latest upgrade.
On the other hand, this could be a false rumor slipped by the competition to hurt Christmas time sales of the iPhone 4.

Judging by how the PMP market is going this may cost $300 for the 30gig to compete with the Creative ZVW. But then again that player does not offer too much extras. The players that do offer the extras, like fm raido, audio and video recording, and even usb host cost at least $375 for the 30gig.

What school. I logged in under education and it is $649 for the 20".
Apple is usually slow to update things like Education pricing etc.

But think of it this way. The average amount of kills you get per napalm strike, mortar team and valkyrie rockets are get on average same amount of kills as rc-xd. And with hardline, you can get rc-xd with only 2 kills. I know my friend runs that setup all the time, and a good 10+ kills of his every round are from the rc-xd. Getting 3 kills per rc car is also nothing rare in a domination or hq game.
It's not that I think rc-xd in the game is ********, it's just that its current status as a 3killstreak award, and how it guarantees kills, is pretty out of wack. I'd much rather see it as a 4-5 killstreak award.

Apple is basically saying that nobody has been able to solve this problem. Everyone wants Apple to fix it, but what if it can't be fixed. All phones drop calls. We are now maybe just finding out why some people drop more calls than others. Maybe it's that phone and the way they hold it.

This is a big point here. AMD has been struggling to keep up with demand for many months now. Apple has suffered in the past from vendors who couldn't deliver as promised. IMO the biggest advantage of the Intel shift was Intel's ability to meet Apple's demand.

The Volt should sell for no more than $20,000. What a ripoff!!!!

You know, I was going to suggest that, but I figured it would be over the heads of most of the folks in this forum. Needless to say, we're both grandpa's (grandma's) around here.
Similar characterstics to that format war. Betamax (Blu-Ray) has superior image quality, but VHS (HD DVD) is cheaper to produce. Ultimately, production costs may be the deciding factor in this war. Backward compatibility with (SD) DVD is a nice added bonus, if the manufacturers put decent upconverters into the boxes. What's up with Sony and it's effing production line anyway? Delays, delays, delays. They're full of it these days.
On the way in to work this morning, I was thinking that HD DVD is about to win this war. If PS3 tanks, Blu-Ray may be lost forever.

... The iPhone is a great piece of kit, but this software update is a great disappointment. Generally I know where I am, so the psuedo GPS thing is something I can't see myself using (and to be honest if I didn't know where I was, then I'm pretty damn sure that there wouldn't be any O2 coverage anyway!).
What would have been great was simple functionality... like if someone texts you a number, I'd like to save it to an existing (or new) contact. Similarly I might like to text (or email) someone one of my contacts numbers.
I'm sure some people will look on it as nitpicking, but these things are 'normal' on most phones. Frankly moving icons around comes a poor second to basic user friendliness.

I think it could be real. Apple seems to be trying to get away from plastic in their more pretentious, pro-level products. I can see the high-end iPhone being this, with an aluminum body, and the low end $99 model becoming the plastic 3GS. (Similar to the plastic MacBook Consumer model and aluminum MacBook Pro arrangement). They also banned screen protectors and seem to insist don't need anything to protect your iPhone... the metal back would appear more durable. Some people have also been clamoring for a return to original 2G iPhone looks. Maybe they found a way to route cell reception through the front so they can fry our brains even further (creating more Apple zealot zombies in the process).
