I had general anesthesia once, when I had my wisdom teeth out.
I passed out while they were putting in the IV - I was a little nervous, but I didn't feel too nervous until all the sudden I was on my back with the nurse calling my name. Then I was a bit embarrassed. (My mother is an RN in that very OR, so the doctor and staff were all hand picked by her, as a favor. She teased me about how I gave them all a fright by passing out, since they knew my mother would flip if anything untoward happened).
When they actually had me in the OR the doctor said, "OK, I'm going to give you the anesthesia now". I felt an ever so slight burning in my arm, and thought "Hmm, I wonder how long it will ta----". Out. Then I woke up in the recovery room. I was a little out of it, I certainly couldn't drive or anything.
I'm Catholic, but I imagine that if you don't believe in an afterlife dying is just like getting anaestesia; boom, you're out, that's it.

The fact that a big sticking point in all of this was the social conservative nonsense about abortions and planned parenthood is just ridiculous. If this is all that many of our politicians can think about in times like these, we're ********** doomed.

United is the ONLY airline that does this.
No they're not. I've listened to ATC transmissions on Delta and Alaska Air too... Then again, it's been a few years since I've flown anyone other than United, Southwest and Frontier and of those three, United is the only doing it.

Look at the clock speeds of the offerings from IBM, HP, SGI, and Sun. For the most part, you will see that their machines have clock speeds in the sub-GHz range. Yet these are the machines of choice when price is no object and the job must get done. Just think about this: these boards are filled with laments that effectively tell you that you need substaintially higher clock speeds to run a computer game than you need to simulate the gas flow in a jet engine. Don't you think that something is just a bit warped here?

Wow, all the critical reviews to pay or not to pay, pre installed or dl on the fly. As I see it, both have draw backs as mentioned, but my general pref, is that it should dl at least your surrounding area. So Garmin (39.99), Tom Tom (39.99), Navigon (44.99), Google (free), Motion X ($2.99) etc. for US major apps.
And yet not one sole mentions Map Quest 4 Mobile (free), dl on the fly and I have never had an outage issue.
I do prefer a stand alone gps though. Therefore I don't see spending more for a secondary gps/backup on my mobile.
And for what its worth, currently using a Garmin 265WT, with traffic. I do have some slant toward Garmin as I use a eTrex Vista. On the iPhone I have all the bold apps. I prefer the Map Quest of all the boldfaced ones.

Oh I didn't realize they wanted to eliminate funding, I thought it was just an argument over reducing it.
Not only that, but if they really just wanted to achieve a 2% spending cut, they wouldn't've had to include such a touchy program in the list. Seems to me like they don't care if the government shuts down, since they believe the Democrats will get the blame, so they either let the gov shut down or they force Democrats to accept their cuts. It's a win-win for them.

Are you arguing that the multitasking pane doesn't have clear differentiation from the home screen? I thought giving it a different texture, pushing the home screen up out of the way, and requiring a quick double-press to bring it up accomplished that.

Still cannot laugh. My wife (Japanese) said it was not funny and must have been written by a Kanto comedian. If a Kansai comedian had written it, it would have been funnier.
Actually, it is the taste of Kanto (around Tokyo) not that of Kansai (around Osaka). But for the image of Apple in Japan, Kansai plot is not suitable, I guess. Because the image of Kansai is not cool.

Why would you need GPS for a route you take daily? Traffic, I suppose...but still?
I imagine some people's jobs may require them to stay within the same general region, but travel areas that they're not totally familiar with: delivery drivers, shuttle drivers, taxis, etc.

Very skillful in how Jobs face and legs are hidden. Im beginning to think the newspapers are right about his condition.
Also, pretty tasteless to dress the way he does. I'm not a fan of Obama, but if I were to meet him and sit next to him for dinner, I would respect the office enough not no dress in freakin' turtle neck.

I noticed they were all wearing shirts / tops - must be trying to hide some chest condition :rolleyes:
