Some people obviously don't know the cost of staff downtime. Each day, how much longer does it take windows computer to boot up than a Mac? Minutes longer. Add that up over every single work day. Then add the anti-virus scans, annoying pop ups, etc.
I support PCs and servers in my job, along with Macs as we're a mixed shop.
I can say without a shadow of a doubt what you put down has little basis in reality. Yes, windows machines take longer to boot up, but not always because of the the antivirus software.
They take longer because IT (me and my co workers) we make sure that group policies are pushed out on every reboot, so the machines are fairly locked down. We also push out updates to software automatically and also yes do virus scans.
For IT to take macs serious, they will need to easily apply group policies to the computer remotely and automatically. Have applications available that allows them to update client applications.
The cost of such is generally to a degree that makes using macs not feasible.
btw, I get just as many calls regarding problems with macs as I do with PCs. In fact many enterprise applications have some major compatibility issues with Safari.
Total Cost of Ownership, up time, training support and efficiencies all point to using PCs over a Mac.
Just because apple fanboys say its cheaper in the long run means its true, quite the opposite. Asset depreciation of Macs is the same as PCs, so there's no financial incentive for a business to hold on to a mac longer then a PC, and actually its negative to hold on to an asset when its fully depreciated even if its still functional. This throws the idea that macs last longer out the door when dealing with business and depreciation
So why buy a computer that costs 2x more then another, has less ability to support/manage remotely. Has the same level of support required, i.e., support calls for users who need help, has some serious compatibility issues with some enterprise applications and also requires a fair amount of re-training for both the users and support staff.

Manwhile I've been enjoying Premiere Pro CS5 - and now Avid...Avid seems smoooth playback wise on my MBP - where FCP and PPro needs to render all the time - even for simple crops and transitions (wtf?!), and I might as well get comfortable using what the pro's use - Thing is, if you want jobs as an editor, many companies are using Avid obviously. If we're just talking prosumer or whatever, FCP/PPro is perfectly fine...I don't mind knowing the basics of all three programs though!

Volkswagen has taken a new direction with the design of their Passat.

Not surprised here. When you really look at Verizon-CDMA, why would anyone want that network? Verizon has crippled the iPhone: higher cost of entry, slower network, no data/voice multitasking, no global access, and crippled conference call features (can not add more than 1 and can not drop individual participants).

I have only been folding with my GPUs since folding the CPU puts off way too much heat. Im hoping to have my air conditioning hooked up soon, it's all free since I work in the sheet metal/hvac trade :p
Hmm... I would have guessed that GPUs (not to mention 4:eek:;)) put off a lot more heat and power usage than a CPU at 100%.

Except that I don't jailbreak my iPad. :p I do however work in an electronics repair shop, and we do jailbreaking/unlocking for customers sometimes. Apple is beating down the jailbreak community pretty well recently. It's a pain for me because it means lots of customers coming in complaining that their jailbreak/unlock is gone. ;)

In all fairness.. people need to learn how to read. How in your right mind do you place a bid of over $400 without even READING the description. As much as this is a scam.. the guy deserves to lose the money for being stupid.

Samsung know they are in trouble with the Apple suits, and rightly so. But instead of just defending the suit against them, they are making stuff up to get back at Apple.
What it is, is childish.
you really should go look up how it works before you start insulting us.
I was not talking crap. That little tid pit I put in about the filing only if getting pissed off and sued came form our resident patent lawyer on these boards who explain why many times you only see law suits after they get sued. They go into the file if sued by so and so bring these up.
That is why many of these patents are filed away and never really sued unless antoher company starts pissing you off or acting childish like Apple. It gives you more leverage to use against them in their lawsuit against you.
I do find it funny. Fanboys cheered when Apple sued Samsung but Samsung responds and now called Samsung childish.
Fanboys call Kodak pantint trolls when they sued apple.
Fanboys cheer when Apple sued Nokia but booed about Nokia sueing apple.
Noticed a pattern there.
