Applied for AP/EAD/485 in July 07.....I know that I can invoke AC21 after 180 days and change jobs.....My question is ,
1. If I travel to India before the 180 days and use the AP when I return, is it like invoking AC21 before 180 days ?
A AC21 has nothing to do with AP
2. what are the consequences of using AP within 180 days after filing for 485 ?
A There is not such a thing as AC21 before 180 days
3. Is AP and AC21 related ? [brother, sister , cousin :) ]

As long as they have valid visa, there should not be any problem entering after short gap outside USA.
I guess IO can object if this happens very frequently but in that case they will warn first rather than taking other action.

Moved from GC sponsoring company A to a different employer B using H1B transfer (expenses paid by me).
Now I see that the market is so bad and there are no contracting calls. The only calls that I get is for full time. And I do not know if they would give me a offer letter that is specified in my labor (which is different than what I work).
I am trying to asses the risk of using EAD compared to staying on h1(after spending so much money for transferring).
Please provide your thoughts of using EAD.

My Personal experience was:
- When my H1B was filed for the first time it had a wrong Date of Birth, lawyer asked me to bring Birth Certificate to the Interview at the consulate. I did not have problems with the stamping of the visa.
When my extension was filed , again, Date of Birth was wrong. Lawyer told me the same thing. Get recent Birth Certificate and bring it to the Interview.
Did not have any problem at all.

I took an infopass appointment last october and my FBI name check status was pending. After seeing the USCIS memo on march4th that all namecheck pending for 180 days has been cleared by feb 28th 2009, i went again for an infopass appt last week. IO toldme that my namecheck is still pending.
So i contacted my senators office same day and sent all my info along with the USCIS memo. Next day senators office called me back and told me that they called USCIS and came to know that my name check has been cleared. Senators office told me that infopass information could be wrong or may not have been updated.
IS that a possibility ? any inputs ?

Why are you worried? Dropping middle name in North American naming conventions is common, but that should not matter.

My wife's and mine EAD renewal was applied on the 23rd of July (company lawyer delayed filing). I received mine in 30 days but my wife's case is still pending, though I am working on my H1 and don't need it. My wife's current EAD expires today, is there anything we can do to get the process to move faster or get her case expediated other than just wait till 90 days. There are lots of people I know who received their EADs even though their applications were sent much later. If the discontinuity is long, my wife may loose her job.

Thank you both for the response. Yes, the new filing fees apply as you rightly said and I was able to Efile also.
The link below was useful in efiling. Just one variation though, USCIS schedules the biometrics appointment, so no need to call the 800 # to schedule one as mentioned in the link.

GC has nothing to do with H1b only issue is they will verify whether you were in status all the time.

No, it;s not possible to get the approval letter for H4 in India. It is usually sent to your home address or lawyer's address in US.
