That's very interesting. Is the pattern symbolic (apart from the Apple logo)? :)
Nah, just a random pattern I put together (apart from the Apple logo). ;)

I am from PA and vacationing in the Outer Banks in NC right now, so I think I might make a drive to MacArthur to line up and get iPhones tomorrow. I just called and got the same info about the store opening at 7 while the mall is opening at 6 for people on line so I might get there at 5am tomorrow.

Exactly, Apple wouldn't care if you did. What you sold would be 2nd hand and have no warranty etc.. The same I assume would be true of T.J.s. As non authorized dealers they have bought some iPads and would be selling them as second hand items. Buyer beware.
Why is everyone under the impression that Apple is Sony, Dell, etc?
Apple Warranty is valid for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc buyer of the same product because Apple doesn't do that ridiculous crap of killing off a warranty based on resale. It is based on the dated receipt. If you have a receipt, and it is within the 1 year warranty, it's covered.
I have bought and resold my main computers over and over again. I sell when I reach that last month mark. The buyers are always covered for that last month, and if they so choose, they can buy the 2 year extended before that final month is over.

If you've imported video from tape onto your Mac, it will be DV(digital video), not avi.
will it still suck?
Don't know, give it a try and see.

I agree with the notion that people should try to take steps to avoid risk, and that people can greatly reduce personal risk by making safer choices.
But this nugget of wisdom does not really touch on the substance of the issue arising in the OP, to wit - how much responsiblity does a rape victim carry? Or, to turn the question around, how much of the rape is not the rapist's fault?
What kind of twisted logic hears of a rape decides that looking "like a prostitute" is the salient feature of the case? What about the crazed deviant who committed the crime in the first place? Indeed, I think Gelfin's analogy is apt - if a smartly-dressed man is mugged, should we simply shrug our shoulders and say "well, he looked like he had a lot of money so he was asking for it. He should have been wearing something less ostentatious."
It's also, by the way, fallacious to assume that only young, attractive and/or scantily-clad women are raped. Such suppositions are the product of the same twisted male chauvinist perspective that suggests that looking "like a prostitute" means that women are "asking for it".
As I have suggested, we cannot really know the answers to these questions without first interviewing (or obtaining transcripts of interviews of) rapists. Most of us on this forum are not rapists (I hope), so making broad inferences on what goes through such a monster's mind is rather pointless. If we can obtain a body of information that clearly demonstrates that rapists are commonly motivated by the victims' appearance/attire, then we can lend credence to the statement quoted in the OP. Prior to obtaining such evidence, to suggest that dress codes will improve school childrens' safety is at best unsupportable and at worst ridiculous. Odd that these "libertarian" types are back at attempting to steal away our freedoms.

I still can't get why Apple uses Safari. Totally doesn't fit in their 'good, innovating software' thing. I'd expect Opera to be made by Apple.
But opera is full of bloat features and doesn't perform at all macishly..
I have issues with Safari too though, on a lot of sites I visit it's unreasonably slow in comparison to Firefox/Camino.. The Firefox 2 betas are shaping up great. :)
I'm not sure of the point of the resizing text box thing.. i've never wanted that to be possible whilst using any browser, safari or not. The new tab stuff sounds very handy though!

Also, while I agree that the deficit needs to be dealt with, I'm concerned that a breakneck reaction will cause more harm than it's worth. If your check oil light comes on, you don't immediately slam on the breaks and abandon the car in the weeds. Rather, you calmly slow down, pull over, access the fluids, and make new decisions.
Yes, I wonder what will happen when SS and Medicare get slashed. What will all the retirees who live with these two programs do? I guess they will have to go back to work. Some 85-year-old frail granny out pushing a lawnmower or something. Truth is, she should have planned her life better.

Address Book syncing now works!!! I'm happy. 7.0.2 definitely is a lot nicer looking. Will have to play around with it some more today.
And Sametime!! They added Sametime!
I never thought I would say this, but thanks IBM...you finally made the Mac version of Notes livable. I'm as excited as I could be about something Notes related :)

All the fun arcade games were 2 player games. If the iCade had one more arcade stick for 2 player gaming (and also usable for dual analog shooters like NOVA2, Modern Combat 2, and Nazi Zombies), it would be perfect.
Leaving out a second arcade stick was a mistake. You can't even play 2 player pong without a second stick.

true, my days with Verizon are counting down. My contract expires in February anyway. So I hope to see an iPhone by then.
